Knowledge, earned one session at a time
Your character doesn't know a troll fears fire, not until the night they learn it the hard way. Monster Journal is the compendium that starts locked and only reveals what your character has actually discovered at the table.
Monster Journal has been succeeded by Campaign Journal, which carries the whole bestiary plus session notes, NPCs, quests, loot and the party. Monster Journal is no longer sold, but if you already have it, it stays on your devices and keeps receiving updates. Support and the privacy policy stay right here.
The compendium starts as locked silhouettes. When the DM announces a monster, unlock its entry in three taps: you get its name, its look, and its lore.
Hit the troll with fire and it works? Tap the damage type to log it, and it's inked into your journal for good. Armour class works the same way: note your best guess and sharpen it fight by fight.
Each character keeps their own journal, and a fresh adventurer starts with an empty book. It fills as you play: every completed entry is a monster your party met, tested, and lived to write down.
Each character keeps their own journal, and a level-1 hero starts with an empty one.
Your own monsters get the full treatment: weaknesses, traits and encounters, inked like every built-in.
Search as you type and filter by source, size and type, built for mid-combat speed.

FAQ
No, it's the opposite. Compendium apps hand you every stat up front. Monster Journal only shows what your character has genuinely learned in play. The not-knowing is the point.
No. It's honour system, you log what happens at your table.
Never. Everything lives on your device: no account, no sign-up, and it works in the deepest dungeon of your friend's basement.
Yes, homebrew is built in. Add any custom monster with a name and a photo or sketch, and it gets the same knowledge tracking as every built-in creature. If your DM invented it, your journal can hold it.
Everything Monster Journal does is now a tab inside Campaign Journal, alongside the sessions, the people, the quests and the loot. If you already own Monster Journal, nothing changes for you: it stays on your devices and keeps receiving updates.
