This policy covers the Monster Journal mobile app, published by Dungeon Works LTD, a company registered in England & Wales. It is separate from the dungeonworks.com website privacy policy. The short version: the app collects nothing about you, because everything it creates stays on your device.
Nothing. Monster Journal has no account, no sign-up, and no login. It does not ask for your name, email, or any personal detail to work. There are no adverts, no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no third-party SDKs watching what you do.
Your characters, journals, inked knowledge, and any homebrew monsters (including photos or sketches you add) are stored only on your device. This data never leaves your phone or tablet unless you deliberately export it, and it never reaches Dungeon Works. We could not see your journal if we tried.
The app can export a backup to a single file. Where that file goes is entirely your choice: your device storage, your own cloud drive, or a message to yourself. If you save it to a third-party service (iCloud, Google Drive, and so on), that copy is then governed by that service's own privacy terms, not ours. Restoring simply reads the file back into the app.
Monster Journal is designed to run fully offline and makes no network calls to us. The app stores and the operating system may process standard, anonymous data around the purchase and download itself (for example, whether the app was bought), which is handled by Apple or Google under their terms, not by us.
The app is suitable for all ages and, because it collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children either.
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you have rights over personal data a company holds about you. Because Monster Journal holds none, there is nothing for us to show, correct, or delete: uninstalling the app removes its data from your device. If you have any question about your data, email support@dungeonworks.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
If a future version ever adds a feature that changes what's collected, such as optional cloud sync, this page will be updated first, with the date above, and any such feature would be opt-in.
