This policy covers the Campaign Journal mobile app, published by Dungeon Works LTD, a company registered in England & Wales. It is separate from the dungeonworks.com website privacy policy. The short version: the app collects nothing about you, because everything it creates stays on your device.
Nothing. Campaign Journal has no account, no sign-up, and no login. It does not ask for your name, email, or any personal detail to work. There are no adverts, no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no third-party SDKs watching what you do.
Your campaigns, session notes, characters, NPCs, locations, quests, loot, party roster, epilogues and bestiary entries, along with any photos or sketches you attach, are stored only on your device. This data never leaves your phone or tablet unless you deliberately export it, and it never reaches Dungeon Works. We could not read your journal if we tried.
A journal naturally holds real details about the people at your table, such as a fellow player's first name or a phone number in a party roster note. That information is yours, typed by you, and it stays on your device under exactly the same terms as everything else: never uploaded, never analysed, never seen by us. If you share a backup file with someone, whatever you wrote goes with it, so treat that file the way you would treat a notebook.
Nothing you write is transcribed, summarised or sent to any language model. The summary screens in the app are assembled on your device from records you wrote yourself, and no part of your journal is used to train anything.
The app can export a backup to a single file. Where that file goes is entirely your choice: your device storage, your own cloud drive, or a message to yourself. If you save it to a third-party service (iCloud, Google Drive, and so on), that copy is then governed by that service's own privacy terms, not ours. Restoring simply reads the file back into the app.
Campaign Journal is designed to run fully offline and makes no network calls to us. The app stores and the operating system may process standard, anonymous data around the purchase and download itself (for example, whether the app was bought), which is handled by Apple or Google under their terms, not by us.
The app is suitable for all ages and, because it collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children either.
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you have rights over personal data a company holds about you. Because Campaign Journal holds none, there is nothing for us to show, correct, or delete: uninstalling the app removes its data from your device. If you have any question about your data, email support@dungeonworks.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
If a future version ever adds a feature that changes what's collected, such as optional sync between your own devices, this page will be updated first, with the date above, and any such feature would be opt-in.
